 Yesterday I caved in and bought the 3.0 firmware update for my 1st generation iPod Touch. I quickly regretted it however since my JVC KD-HDR50 head unit in my car failed to recognize the device. Then I found it nearly impossible to downgrade back to 2.2. Click "Read More..." below for my solution. |

 Stumbling across the internets took me to a blog post by Elliot Kember concerning the specific hexadecimal string that satisfies the equation MD5(x)=x. Per Wikipedia, "MD5 (Message-Digest algorithm 5) is a widely used cryptographic hash function with a 128-bit hash value. As an Internet standard (RFC 1321), MD5 has been employed in a wide variety of security applications, and is also commonly used to check the integrity of files." The user-contributed code on his blog is pretty cool and some was likely used in the MD5 Game, another similar venture. I found this pretty cool and will be checking to see if someone can find the answer.
